IS TECHNICIAN LDAR I

HPC-Industrial, powered by Clean Harbors, is seeking an LDAR Technician to join their safety-focused team at a customer site.

About the role

The LDAR Technician identifies, documents, and tags fugitive emissions (gas leaks) from industrial components like valves and pumps, ensuring compliance with EPA regulations. They use specialized equipment—such as Toxic Vapor Analyzers (TVAs/Method 21) or Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) cameras—to monitor, report, and facilitate repairs in refineries, chemical plants, and oil/gas sites.

This role operates in industrial settings including refineries, petrochemical plants, utilities, and pulp and paper mills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health & Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes, and acting in a safe manner.
• Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting, pulling, and pushing heavy objects.
• Perform field inspections: routine, scheduled inspections of components (valves, connectors, pumps, tanks) to detect leaks of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain monitoring equipment (e.g., Flame Ionization Detectors - FID).
• Record inspection data, tag leaking components, and manage inventory within databases like LeakDAS, GuideWare, SkyBridge.
• Adhere to environmental regulations (e.g., 40 CFR Subpart 60) and strict site safety protocols.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to report leaks and verify repairs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Confined space entry & 10 Hour OSHA Training (preferred).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently.
• Physically active role involving travel to remote sites or working within complex, loud industrial environments.
• Must be able to wear protective clothing or equipment, including Nomex coveralls, back belt, slicker suits, rubber boots, fresh air breathing mask & escape pack, and hard hat.
• Must be able to work under extreme climate conditions (e.g., high heat index of 95+ degrees Fahrenheit, 98% humidity, subzero temperatures).
• Must withstand exposure to dust, chemical fumes, exhaust, and highly pressurized fluids.
• Physical stamina: ability to walk long distances, stand for extended periods, climb ladders/scaffolding (up to 300 ft), and lift up to 50 lbs.
