About the Role

The Architect 1 provides business and technical expertise in processes, solutions, integration, data migration, and custom development. Leads architecture and design discussions to address business needs, working with other IS departments. Creates and contributes to strategies, policies, and best practices. Designs and develops solutions based on strategic business or technical requirements, ensuring delivery of the overall solution including technical architecture designs, business strategies, and quality assurance plans. Works closely with Project Managers and Program Managers in the design, development, and implementation of technical content defined in the Statement of Work. These services may be provided for both LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide business and technical knowledge in processes, solutions, integration, data migration, and custom development.
  • Lead envisioning, architecture, and design discussions to address business needs.
  • Develop strategies, policies, and best practices.
  • Design and articulate solutions based on customer’s strategic business or technical requirements.
  • Deliver overall solutions, including technical architecture designs, business strategies, and quality assurance plans.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Program Managers in the design, development, and implementation of technical content defined in the Statement of Work.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred. Experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum four years of experience meeting intensive healthcare business or technical needs.
  • Minimum one year of Healthcare industry experience across the continuum of care in an integrated delivery system model.
  • Valid California Driver License required at time of hire.
  • Certification in primary EPIC application is required within assigned Epic applications.

Skills

  • Strong background in a multidiscipline environment, including routing, switching, server and storage management, application presentation, scripting, and data architecture.
  • Experience in diverse system and technical/application design in large heterogeneous enterprise environments.
  • Knowledge of system requirements definition (RD) processes, modeling methods, and tools.
  • Understanding of SOA, application integration patterns, UML-based modeling, Agile development methodology, LEAN, and Six Sigma process improvement techniques.
  • Ability to interpret and create technical plans, operating instructions, schematic drawings, and articles from professional and technical journals.
  • Work conceptually with probability and statistical inference.
  • Knowledge of related Information Technology trends and applications.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English with professional quality; ability to use computer, printer, and software programs necessary for the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong knowledge of project management software such as MS Project, Access, and other project management tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to relate positively and effectively with others, work calmly under pressure, and collaborate across departments.
  • Strong analytic, documentation, project management, planning, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, processes, and needs based on limited information; manage multiple assignments and make recommendations.
  • Strong time management, critical thinking, and independent work capabilities.
  • Ability to distinguish colors as necessary and hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone.
