Purpose and Scope
Perform basic architectural/engineering calculations; preparing specifications, reports and related data tables. Maintaining liaison with design and drafting groups. Preparing, reviewing, and approving drawings as required.
Essential Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Supervising Architect, maintain project coordination with all other disciplines on an assigned project.
- Provide Supervising Architect status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems.
- Supervise, assign work, set work priorities, evaluate and train technical and architectural personnel.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to technical and architectural personnel.
- Continually upgrade technical knowledge and capabilities.
- Assure quality, quantity, and completeness of the architectural/engineering work required.
- Plan and schedule architectural/engineering efforts associated with assigned projects.
- Maintain timeliness and accuracy of oral and written technical reports regarding assigned activities.
- Maintain proper architectural/engineering files and records.
- Under the direction of the Supervising Architect, may perform technical assignments of moderate complexity within approved schedules and budgets.
- May coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project.
- May assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.
- Prepare plans and drawings at feasibility, conceptual, or detailed design.
- Develop 3-D and solid CAD/CAE models to assist in the development of facility layout and/or equipment arrangement drawings.
- Perform other architectural/engineering-related work as required.
Minimum Requirements
- US Citizen
- Bachelor of Science or Arts degree in Architecture from an accredited college or university or demonstrated equivalent education.
- 4+ years of architectural experience.
- Must be a Registered Architect in a home state.
- Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.
- Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
- Position may require travel.
- Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of Building codes and architectural standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Government or nuclear experience, i.e., DOD, DOE, NR.
- Working knowledge of the design of nuclear or heavy industrial facilities.
- Ability to prepare various specifications, calculations and drawings.
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Building designs for industrial facilities.
- Condition assessment and Building and Fire Protection Code compliance.
- Visualization, animation, and multimedia design and techniques.
- Secret or Top-Secret Clearance.
