Essential Functions

  • Prepare the layout of the project.
  • Perform layout and assembly of metal frames, building components, and structures.
  • Rig work for movement by crane.
  • Erect and install scaffolding, hoisting equipment and rigging.
  • Align and weld or bolt steel units in place.
  • Set and adjust welding machine according to materials used.
  • Identify and resolve hazards associated with assignments.
  • Work with blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
  • Work on top of stilts, ladders, and the top beams of buildings.
  • Check work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specifications.
  • Must be able to perform basic rigging practices as well as flagging practices based on OSHA 1926.1428.
  • Must be able to safely use hand and power tools and follow Company and site safety policies.

Job Duties Include

  • Maintain building systems as assigned.
  • Execute various minor construction projects as required.
  • Willingness and ability to work various shifts and overtime on short notice, to meet businesses’ needs.
  • Maintain equipment & clean around workstations.
  • Interface with supervisor &/or manager to give progress updates as required.
  • Work in tight spaces – physically able to climb up and down safely in proximity of manufacturing and process equipment.
  • Elevated work > 4’ – fall protection required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years manufacturing, industrial, or field experience.
  • Able to arrive at work on time, as scheduled, consistently, reliably, & complete each shift.
  • Follow all safety rules and standards for the company and for the site.
  • Understand and follow Instructions from the direct supervisor.

Physical Profile Requirements

  • The job requires occasionally remaining on one's feet in an upright position without moving for long periods of time, occasionally moving about on foot for long periods of time, remaining in a seated position for long periods of time, and/or climbing stairs, step-ladders, extension ladders and scaffolding ladders.
  • The job also requires the ability to raise or lower an object of approximately 5-50 pounds from one level to another, the ability to transport an object of up to 50 pounds a distance of up to 10 yards, usually holding it in the hands or arms, or on the shoulder, the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly so that an object moves away from the force, and/or the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly so that an object moves toward the force.
  • Must be capable of operating a standard 1/2 ton pick-up for occasional delivery and pick-up of materials and personnel and hold a valid, unrestricted motor vehicle operator's license issued by the state of residence, and the manual dexterity necessary to operate a standard desktop computer keyboard.
