Ireland: Assistant Professor in High-performance Computing

About the role

This is a teaching and research position. The successful candidate will contribute at all levels of teaching and supervision undertaken by the School of Mathematics and will be expected to conduct a vigorous research programme.

The School seeks to expand its existing research strengths in Computational Mathematics/Numerical Analysis with a focus on High-Performance Computing (HPC). The School boasts research groups in Applied and Numerical Linear Algebra (ANLA) and a computationally-focused high-energy physics group working in Lattice QCD. The appointee will complement the work of these groups while further building computational and HPC expertise in both Mathematics and Theoretical Physics.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education and supervision.
  • Develop and deliver lectures for the School’s taught MSc degree in High Performance Computing, with a preference for candidates who can offer or develop content complementary to the existing curriculum.
  • Conduct a vigorous, independent research programme in Computational Mathematics/Numerical Analysis with applications in High-Performance Computing.

Requirements

Candidates working in any area within Computational Mathematics/Numerical Analysis will be considered, with preference for those with experience in High-Performance Computing applications. Particular encouragement is given to applicants specialising in large-scale computations in optimisation and stochastic partial-differential equations.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated exceptional research promise in the field.
