About the role

Under the direction of the Site Manager and Physicians, the IR Technologist is responsible for performing high quality, diagnostic angiography and interventional procedures on patients of all ages. Demonstrating knowledge of anatomy and angiographic systems, the technologist demonstrates clinical competency in all aspects of interventional radiology including sterile technique, angiographic supplies and medications/lab test values.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care in accordance with the mission statement of TRA.
  • Obtains a thorough patient history as it relates to the exam to be completed.
  • Prepares radiographic/fluoroscopy equipment, positions patients correctly, and accurately captures the diagnostic image needed for the procedure.
  • Completes examinations in a timely manner.
  • Adheres to exam protocols and policies, procedures as established by the department.
  • Utilizes proper radiation safety devices such as lead aprons and thyroid collars to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure.
  • Maintains sterile technique/sterile field in setting up for IR cases and during IR procedures, actively adhering to infection control policies.
  • Absorb and prepare for IR procedures by selecting needed supplies for case, and preparing IR equipment and support equipment prior to procedure.
  • Aid the provider and RN with IR cases as needed by acting as a scrub tech.
  • Maintain sterile technique/sterile field during procedures, actively engaging with the procedure, and assisting with requests.
  • Prepare the patient for IR procedures, positioning, prepping procedure-specific site if needed.
  • Sterilize non-disposable instruments in accordance with company policy.
  • Participate in QA and sterilization process, and monitoring of sterilization.
  • Clean IR room and equipment following procedures.
  • Achieve work area and patient exam areas neat and stocked with appropriate supplies.
  • Perform necessary computer functions associated with patient exam, including RIS (Radiology Information System) and McKesson PACS.
  • Apply IV principles under the scope of practice for Radiologic Technologists.
  • Wear Radiation Badge daily.
  • Use good body mechanics to avoid injury to oneself and the patient.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Check work e-mail daily.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an Accredited Radiologic Technology program is required.
  • Experience with sterile fields and sterile technique preferred.
  • ARRT registry required or registry-eligible in Interventional Radiology.
  • Washington State Licensure required.
  • Current BLS certification required.

  • Education/Work Experience: Graduate from an Accredited Radiologic Technology program is required.
  • Job Knowledge/Skills: Maintains high standards regarding the accurate recording of patient information, utilizes accurate written and oral communications with patients, physicians, co-workers and supervisors, cooperates and maintains good rapport with co-workers to ensure proper patient care and efficient workflow, demonstrates effective customer service skills, uses AIDET/4 As, works effectively in a teamwork environment, communicates professionally with other medical facilities, patients, and customers, manages multiple tasks and carries out instructions effectively, possesses excellent verbal communication skills, good organization skills, maintains a professional demeanor with confidentiality, is prompt and efficient with minimal absences, demonstrates effective customer service skills, communicates professionally with other medical facilities, patients, and customers, manages multiple tasks and carries out instructions effectively.

Pay

Pay: $40.33 - $68.56 per hour based on relevant experience, skills, and abilities. As a per diem position, this role also is eligible for a +15% "in lieu of benefits" hourly bonus.

Schedule

Shifts: 10 hour shifts, Monday - Friday, on a per diem basis. Per Diem employees are expected to work a minimum of 2 shifts or 16 hours per month.
