Responsibilities

• Takes responsibility for film quality, patient care, safety, sterile technique and provides education for staff and students.
• Produces angiography images and specialized studies, including:
• Obtaining history and/or examination data and evaluating for contraindicating conditions;
• Reviewing physician's report;
• Scrubbing for procedures and setting up sterile fields;
• Administering contrasts by direct injection or IV line;
• Taking and monitoring vital signs;
• Applying shielding, supportive and immobilization devices;
• Adjusting and controlling equipment;
• Reviewing film for clinically acceptable results;
• Recovering and releasing patients;
• Preparing room by gathering and setting up equipment, supplies and contrasts.
• Applies radiation safety guidelines and patient protection guidelines.
• Provides emotional support, comfort, general assistance and information to patients.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care based on the age of the patients served.
• Operates and maintains angiography equipment, film processors, computers and other departmental equipment.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school or program of Radiology Technology.
• RT(R): Current registration with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
• Current BCLS certification.
• Cardiology Interventional Registry is preferred.
