Responsibilities
- Takes responsibility for film quality, patient care, safety, sterile technique and provides education for staff and students.
- Produces angiography images and specialized studies, including obtaining history and examination data, reviewing physician’s report, scrubbing for procedures, setting up sterile fields, administering contrasts, taking and monitoring vital signs, applying shielding, supportive, and immobilization devices, adjusting and controlling equipment, reviewing film for clinically acceptable results, recovering and releasing patients, and preparing room by gathering and setting up equipment, supplies, and contrasts.
- Operates and maintains angiography equipment, film processors, computers, and other departmental equipment.
- Applies radiation safety guidelines and patient protection guidelines.
- Provides emotional support, comfort, general assistance, and information to patients.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care based on the age of the patients served.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school or program of Radiology Technology.
- RT(R): Current registration with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Current BCLS certification.
- Cardiology Interventional Registry is preferred.
