IR Technologist

About the role

Interventional Radiology Technologist position available at Lexington Health. The role involves assisting in the performance of Interventional Radiologic Procedures and requires a graduate of a 2 Year AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology with a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competence to provide care for adult and geriatric patients, including bariatric patients.
• Performs all duties and tasks assigned to the Special Procedure Technologist.
• Applies knowledge of radiation protection and wears a radiation dosimeter and protective lead as assigned.
• Uses knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and radiographic techniques to accurately demonstrate anatomical structures on radiographs.
• Determines exposure factors to achieve optimal radiographic technique with minimal radiation exposure to the patient.
• Aids Radiologists in performing invasive procedures such as arteriography, venography, transluminal angioplasties, stents, venous access, percutaneous drainage procedures, biopsies, myelography, acute stroke therapy, vascular embolizations, and other interventional procedures.
• Responsible for taking on-call assignments on a rotational basis for all shifts as assigned.
• Operates all Interventional equipment.
• Practices proper sterile techniques in setting up procedural trays and opening supplies for Interventional procedures.
• Aids Radiologists in the use of guidewires and catheters during invasive procedures.
• Assists with patient transport as necessary.
• Clocks in/out according to hospital policy and approves time in Kronos at the end of each pay period.
• Attends staff meetings as required and completes all mandatory education requirements.
• Serves on various committees and work teams as requested.
• Reports significant medical errors or unanticipated outcomes resulting in patient harm following established guidelines.
• Maintains confidentiality of passwords, security codes, and adheres to HIPAA guidelines.
• Ensures adherence to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and DNV.
• Evaluates equipment issues and reports them as needed for service.
• Displays good public relations and service excellence at all times.
• Supports the hospital community by ensuring adherence to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements, and DNV.

Requirements

• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R);
• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (VI) in Vascular-Interventional Radiology;
• Current South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) current license.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a 2 Year AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience.

Skills

• Knowledge of radiation protection.
• Ability to apply anatomical knowledge.
• Experience with radiographic techniques.
• Proficiency in operating Interventional equipment.
• Knowledge of sterile techniques.
• Ability to assist with invasive procedures.

Pay

Competitive compensation package with sign-on bonus of up to $20K.

Schedule

Full Time AM Shift from 0730-1800.
