IR Sedation Nurse
About The Role
This is for weekend coverage. The schedule is Saturday and Sunday starting at 7am with 10-hour shifts.
Responsibilities
- Performs various activities necessary for the preparation of the patient and the procedure room for the radiology procedures in compliance with policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.
- Cleans and prepares the procedure room for the day's procedures.
- Stocks the Nursing Cart with supplies such as EKG leads and oxygen.
- Prints the daily schedule and pre-op call template.
- Narcotic count in the morning, moves to the procedure room for the day's procedures.
- Documents all used narcotics during the day.
- Returns all unused items to the lock box at the end of the day.
- Checks in the first patient of the day.
- Explains the procedure to the patient, answers any questions, and addresses patient concerns.
- Administers medication, both pre-, intra-, and post-operatively.
- Maintains patient vitals, including BP, EKG rhythm, and oxygen saturation, and ensures there are no airway obstructions.
- Scans items used in the procedure room into the inventory management system.
- Administers sedation medication through IV access.
- Sedates the patient and transfers them to the holding area.
- Hooks the patient up to the monitor and takes the first set of vitals.
- Signs off on the transfer document from self to the Medical Assistant.
- Complies with HIPAA policies and standards regarding patient confidentiality.
- Oversees the crash cart, performs AED checks, and maintains an expired medication log daily.
- Checks inventory monthly, removes and restocks outdated items.
- Trains new nurses and medical assistants as needed.
- Makes post-op calls to the patient and dictates in the patient’s chart.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited RN program.
- Current State License.
- Current CPR certification.
- At least one (1) year of medical/surgical experience is preferred.
Qualifications
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have thorough knowledge in computer information systems.

Salary Range: Please note that the hourly range for this position will vary based on experience level, education and geographical location. $35.00 - $43.10 / hour
