About the role
The Sedation Nurse provides advanced nursing assessment, care, and documentation of patient status during procedures, including medication administration, patient comfort, support, awareness, and education. Responsibilities span pre-procedural, procedural, and post-procedural phases.
Responsibilities
- Provides advance nursing assessment pre-procedurally, intra-procedurally, and post-procedurally.
- Identifies and interprets subtle and early indicators of crisis situations and intervenes.
- Administers conscious or moderate sedation under physician supervision for invasive procedures.
- Maintains patient's condition by monitoring blood pressure, ECG, oxygen saturation, capnography, IV solutions, and contrast materials.
- Keeps a personal watch on the patient's condition, prepares the room and patient for the procedure, and provides supplies and equipment as needed.
- Maintains inventory and stock of necessary supplies in assigned area.
- Screens patient's medical history and identifies information impacting care, communicating concerns to the provider.
- Performs laboratory testing, IV’s when needed, and accurately administers, documents, and accounts for all medications.
- Documents patient encounters clearly, accurately, completely, and efficiently.
- Manages and follows up with patients, identifies events qualifying for incident reporting, and notifies management.
- Maintains emergency equipment, assists with emergency care, and performs administrative duties as needed.
- Demonstrates exemplary customer service, adheres to OSHA, CLIA, Joint Commission/AAAHC, CDC, State, Board of Pharmacy regulations, and Company policies.
- Participates in and completes required trainings and in-services, and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in nursing with at least one (1) year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook).
- One (1) year of prior experience working with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state in which the employee practices, or compact eligible.
- A current ACLS and BLS certification.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including exceptional customer service.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with doctors, clinical staff, other co-workers, and the public.
- Flexible scheduling ability.
- Patience and understanding during stressful conditions related to patient health and emergent situations.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Working knowledge of all equipment and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Professional attitude and appearance.
- Working knowledge of the healthcare field and medical terminology.
- Proof of influenza vaccination annually.
- Completion of two (2)-step PPD (NE staff) or annual PPD (SE staff).
- Completion of all regulatory competencies prior to beginning work in the ASC.
Qualifications
- One (1) year experience as a Registered Nurse.
- One (1) year of prior experience working in a Pain Management practice.

Benefits
- Pay Range: $42.00/Hour - $47.00/Hour
- PTO: Up to 96 hours in first year (pro-rated based on start date)
