About the role
Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton, a global Am Law 50 firm, is seeking an IP Litigation Legal Assistant. We are open to candidates in any of the following offices: Los Angeles, Century City, Orange County, San Diego (Del Mar), San Diego (Downtown), Silicon Valley, and San Francisco.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily workflow regarding procedures, deadlines, filings and related documentation in federal courts and PTAB.
- Support IP litigation attorneys and paralegals in all aspects of patent litigation and PTAB filings.
- Handle document productions and e-discovery.
- Manage and organize case files and documents.
- Prepare and review legal documents, including motions, briefs, and pleadings.
- Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
- Manage multiple projects with changing priorities while working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Work overtime, evenings, and weekends, as needed.
- Collaborate with firm personnel at all levels.
Requirements
- A minimum of 1-3+ years of litigation experience in a law firm.
- Strong working knowledge of Federal Courts rules and procedures.
- Extensive knowledge of litigation (e-filings), trial procedures, and federal and state court procedures and rules.
- Strong working knowledge of P-TACTS.
- Ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities while working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks, and excellent time management skills to meet deadlines.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required, plus substantial and relevant work experience.
- A bachelor's degree or some college is preferred.
- Must have proficiency in Windows 11, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Zoom, and Teams, and experience working with a document management system.
- Must be able to quickly learn new skills and systems.

Benefits
The current Firm policy is hybrid–working in the office a minimum of 3 days per week and working from home the rest of the week (subject to change).
Overtime may be required as the job duties demand.
Pay
California: The salary range for this position is $26.00 - $62.00 per hour.
Schedule
Working indoors with limited exposure to hazards (only those that customarily come up with working in a high-rise building). Indoor office work environment in a cubical or workstation.
