About the role

New York Life is seeking an experienced Talent Acquisition leader to serve as the Investments Business Recruiting Lead. Reporting to the Head of Talent Acquisition, this role is responsible for developing and executing the talent acquisition strategy for New York Life Investments while leading a high-performing recruiting team that delivers exceptional hiring outcomes across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior Talent Acquisition partner for New York Life Investments, advising executive leaders on talent strategy, workforce planning, organizational design, and hiring priorities.
  • Develop recruiting strategies aligned with business objectives, anticipated growth, organizational changes, and evolving talent market conditions.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior leaders by providing consultative guidance, labor market intelligence, competitive insights, and talent recommendations.
  • Influence hiring decisions through data-driven insights while balancing business needs with enterprise talent priorities.
  • Partner across Human Resources, Compensation, Talent Management, Learning & Development, and Workforce Planning to deliver integrated talent solutions.
  • Act as the primary recruiting leader for the Investments business, ensuring alignment between talent acquisition strategy and broader enterprise objectives.
  • Executive Officer Recruiting Lead:
    • Serve as a trusted advisor throughout the executive hiring process, providing market intelligence, talent mapping, succession insights, and competitive landscape analysis to inform hiring decisions.
    • Develop and execute proactive executive search strategies for critical leadership roles, leveraging internal networks, external search partners, and direct sourcing to build diverse, high-caliber executive talent pipelines.
    • Partner with Compensation, HR Business Partners, Legal, and senior stakeholders to deliver a seamless, confidential, and high-touch executive recruiting experience.
    • Ensure executive searches align with enterprise governance, assessment processes, and leadership hiring standards while balancing speed, quality, and candidate experience.
    • Build and maintain long-term relationships with executive talent to support succession planning and future leadership needs.
    • Provide executive stakeholders with regular updates on search progress, market conditions, candidate availability, and hiring risks to enable informed decision-making.
  • Talent Acquisition Strategy Lead:
    • Develop and execute comprehensive recruiting strategies across all functions within New York Life Investments.
    • Build sustainable talent pipelines for critical and hard-to-fill roles through proactive sourcing, talent mapping, networking, and external partnerships.
    • Anticipate future talent needs by leveraging workforce analytics, labor market trends, and competitive intelligence.
    • Champion innovative sourcing strategies that engage both active and passive talent while expanding access to diverse talent pools.
    • Partner with business leaders to develop hiring strategies that support both immediate business needs and long-term organizational capability.
  • Leadership & Team Development Lead:
    • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of recruiters, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
    • Elevate recruiter capability through coaching in consultative recruiting, executive stakeholder management, sourcing excellence, and business partnership.
    • Create clear performance expectations and drive accountability through recruiter productivity metrics, coaching, and ongoing performance feedback.
    • Create an inclusive, engaging environment that encourages professional growth and continuous improvement.
  • Recruiting Operations & Continuous Improvement:
    • Drive operational excellence across the end-to-end recruiting lifecycle while continuously improving processes, governance, and service delivery.
    • Lead adoption and optimization of recruiting technologies, including Eightfold, SAP SuccessFactors, LinkedIn Recruiter, and emerging AI-enabled recruiting capabilities.
    • Identify opportunities to leverage automation, artificial intelligence, and digital solutions to improve recruiting efficiency, quality, and candidate experience.
    • Champion change management initiatives and ensure consistent adoption of recruiting best practices across the team.
    • Ensure compliance with enterprise hiring policies, regulatory requirements, and talent acquisition standards.
  • Data, Analytics & Market Intelligence:
    • Operate recruiting as a strategic business function by leveraging analytics, workforce data, and market intelligence to drive informed decision-making.
    • Monitor and communicate key performance indicators including time-to-fill, quality of hire, pipeline health, recruiter productivity, hiring manager satisfaction, and diversity outcomes.
    • Translate recruiting metrics into actionable recommendations that influence business strategy and hiring decisions.
    • Leverage external labor market insights and competitive intelligence to proactively identify opportunities, risks, and emerging talent trends.
  • Employer Brand & Talent Market Presence:
    • Serve as a visible ambassador for New York Life Investments within the external talent marketplace.
    • Partner with Talent Acquisition and Marketing teams to strengthen employer branding initiatives targeting investment professionals.
    • Represent New York Life at industry conferences, networking events, and professional associations to build awareness and strengthen executive and professional talent pipelines.
    • Ensure a consistent, compelling candidate experience that reflects New York Life's values, culture, and commitment to excellence.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive Talent Acquisition experience, including significant experience supporting investment management, asset management, financial services, or other highly specialized business functions.
  • Demonstrated success leading recruiting teams within complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Experience leading Executive Officer and senior leadership searches, including partnering with executive stakeholders on critical leadership hiring.
  • Proven ability to influence senior executives and serve as a trusted strategic advisor on talent acquisition and workforce planning.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align recruiting strategy with organizational priorities and business outcomes.
  • Expertise developing sourcing strategies for specialized, executive, and difficult-to-fill talent.
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging recruiting analytics, workforce insights, and market intelligence to improve hiring outcomes.
  • Experience leading organizational change and driving adoption of recruiting technology and process improvements.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusive hiring practices and delivering exceptional candidate experiences.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience recruiting within investment management, asset management, institutional investments, capital markets, or related financial services organizations.
  • Experience leading recruiting through organizational transformation, operating model evolution, or business growth initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Eightfold, SAP SuccessFactors, LinkedIn Recruiter, and AI-enabled recruiting technologies.
  • Experience representing an organization externally through industry events, professional associations, or employer branding initiatives.
  • Executive search experience gained within a corporate talent acquisition function, executive search firm, or a combination of both.
