About the role

Partners Capital is seeking an Investment Principal to join our Public Markets Team in Boston or New York. The individual will be responsible for supporting senior investment professionals in our public markets research activities across asset classes, approach, and directionality. The individual must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and be equally comfortable working independently as well as with a large team to execute on the opportunity set.

Responsibilities

The primary goal of the Public Markets Research Team is to deliver high absolute and relative returns over the long-term by partnering with top-tier managers and select direct investments. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting rigorous and comprehensive due diligence of asset managers and other direct investment opportunities
  • Stress-testing the manager’s assumptions and developing an independent view of the merits of the investment
  • Preparing internal and external investment documentation
  • Leading ongoing diligence and monitoring of investment managers and opportunities
  • Conducting ongoing research on core investment themes and assisting in portfolio management function for pooled investment vehicles
  • Process management, including investment database support, client investment process management, and marketing support

Qualifications

Required qualifications include:

  • Deep understanding and passion for investing and markets
  • 6-8 years of experience in a manager due diligence role or relevant experience in direct investing, investment banking, or sales/trading
  • Undergraduate degree with a strong track record of academic achievement
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience in public markets and/or absolute return investment strategies preferred
  • Prior allocator experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative working environment
  • Intellectually curious and a team player who is willing to do whatever it takes to contribute to the success of the business

Pay

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role in Massachusetts is $160,000 - $220,000. The base salary offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. The base salary is one element of our competitive compensation package, and this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
