About the role
The Office of Investments manages and grows the University of Chicago’s endowment to advance UChicago’s mission of academic excellence and inquiry. The role supports the Investment Office’s operational data management and reporting needs.
Responsibilities
- Supports established internal controls and procedures to collect, reconcile, and report cash flow, valuation, and performance-related data.
- Performs routine investment support functions, such as data requests, standard reconciliations, document intake, and status tracking.
- Affords assistance in centralizing and maintaining key investment data, including liquidity terms, holdings, performance details, and manager communications.
- Supports process documentation by maintaining organized records (notes, supporting files, and audit trails).
- Investigates routine data questions and escalates discrepancies, breaks, or non-standard items to more senior team members for resolution.
- Prepares routine exhibits, extracts, and data sets for internal stakeholders using standard templates.
- Assists with daily/weekly data verification activities, such as cash position checks, tracking inflows/outflows, and basic exposure checks.
- Supports performance reporting processes by gathering inputs, performing basic validations, and helping maintain historical records.
- Sources and performs due diligence of potential new investments.
- Performs industry analysis to determine investment attractiveness of various investment strategies.
- May assist with basic testing/QA steps using provided test scripts.
- Supports many facets of the investment process, including the selection and monitoring of external investment specialists across asset classes.
Requirements
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field and knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Qualifications
- Some exposure in investment operations, performance analysis, or related discipline.
- Familiarity with applying AI and machine learning tools for investment and operations workflow automation, data validation, and performance analysis is preferred.

- Strong organizational skills to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain clear documentation.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills; able to summarize status, flag issues, and ask effective questions.
