Responsibilities
- Interviews victims, witnesses and initial department personnel after reported security incidents
- Gains follow-up information from individuals who are involved either directly or indirectly in public safety related incidents
- Collections and reviews any relevant evidence including video and digital media
- Summarizes investigative findings and conclusions
- Performs investigations for all incidents that involve criminal activity (i.e. theft of UC Health or personal property or information)
- Conducts and coordinates periodic investigations to identify inappropriate associate activity utilizing various investigative techniques
- Conduct internal investigations as directed, inclusive of use of force investigations and allegations of misconduct
- Maintains close collaboration with local/state/federal law enforcement partners and work in partnerships to fulfill requirements to further any potential criminal activity
- Works closely with law enforcement agencies as the appropriate liaison at the direction of the System Director
- Serve as a liaison for System Public Safety regarding investigative enquiries related to incident review by the Joint Commission
- Affirms quality assurance in reviewing all investigative work products and provides summary reports to Director of System Public Safety and Senior leadership
- Works in collaboration with the Public Safety Training Coordinators regarding all aspects of basic investigative techniques and comprehensive reporting across the system
- Provides training recommendations to assure compliance with legal updates and training recommendations as defined by OPOTA
- Works in direct collaboration with Human Resources to determine factual evidence for consideration in responding to suspected employee misconduct and malfeasance
- Maintains confidentiality of all Human Resource related investigations
- Assures compliance with all aspects of all Collective Bargaining Agreements related to employee rights during the course of investigations on behalf of Human Resources
- Provides timely and accurate notifications to UC Health Chief legal counsel and/or their designees
Qualifications
- Minimum Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred: Associate's Degree - Criminal Justice or related field or Bachelor's Degree - Criminal Justice or related field
- LICENSE & CERTIFICATION: Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy (OPOTA) certification as a police officer with the minimum hours of training required by OPOTA. Obtain IAHSS Security officer certification within 18 months of employment.
- Minimum Required: 3 - 5 Years equivalent experience
- Preferred: 6 - 10 Years equivalent experience
