What You Will Do
- Maintains work records and case files and prepares reports, billings and other administrative documents.
- Works with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in the coordination of case activities and their development for legal action.
- Works closely with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in locating, arresting and prosecuting fugitives.
- Functions as a liaison with location and outside agencies when conducting major investigations to ensure prosecutorial standards are met.
- Networks with local and outside agencies.
- Limits include interviewing victims and witnesses and recording their statements, interrogating suspects, locating, collecting and preserving evidence, arranging for technical analysis of evidence as appropriate, writing reports of investigations, conferring with attorneys regarding cases, testifying in court, advising prosecuting attorneys of facts likely to be presented in testimony, photographing, video taping and sketching crime scenes, developing informants, analyzing network statements of persons suspected of white collar crimes, performing undercover and surveillance assignments, providing office security, serving subpoenas and summons, and serving as a course instructor.
- Performs community relations work.
- Serves subpoenas and summons.
- Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
Education
- High School or GED equivalency required.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in criminal justice or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of one year law enforcement experience required.
Licenses and/or Certifications
- POST Certification CRS 16-2.5-104(1) required.
- Valid driver’s license at the time of application and a valid Colorado driver’s license at time of hire required.
Special Requirements
- Must successfully pass background check.

Pay and Schedule
- Budgeted starting salary of $34.17 per hour.
- Regular full-time employees accrue eight (8) hours per month with a maximum accrual of 960 hours.
- After 5 years: earn twelve (12) hours per month with a maximum accrual of 216 hours.
- After 10 years: earn sixteen (16) hours per month with a maximum accrual of 288 hours.
