About the role

The Inventory Specialist is primarily responsible for performing tasks involved in issuing materials, parts, supplies, and equipment in response to Inventory Requests and Work Order pick lists. Follows established procedures and verbal instructions. Assists in cycle counting and is responsible for bringing any discrepancies or issues regarding accuracy of inventory balances and locations to the attention of the Inventory Management Supervisor. Strives to maintain high internal customer satisfaction with efficient and complete service and support.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, track, and distribute materials and supplies.
  • Prepare a variety of routine administrative paperwork.
  • Read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers.
  • Enter materials from internal and external locations into stock and into the computerized records system.
  • Assign primary stock locations as necessary.
  • Pull/pick materials (stocked items) for work orders.
  • Safe operation and use of Hem Saw, Chop Saw, Belt Sander, and various cutting and hand tools.
  • Safe operation and use of forklift, overhead crane, pallet jack, and lift table.
  • Maintain accurate counts and inventory records.
  • Distribute and perform material handling duties.
  • Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping, and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal system requirements.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives/programs, and support actions to drive company initiatives/goals.
  • Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication at all levels, internal and external to the organization.
  • Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values.
  • Keep management informed of area activities and any significant problems.
  • Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
  • Ensure that the work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to use a calculator.
  • Familiar with work orders and shop paperwork.
  • Effective verbal/written communication skills required for multi-faceted interactions with all levels of personnel within the organization.
  • Computer literate, with MS Office/PC experience.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/shipping & receiving environment, including, but not limited to: fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise, and vibration. This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines, as well as environments requiring appropriate eye, hearing, and foot protection. Temperature of the work environment may be affected by outside/external temperatures, machining processes, etc.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Vision and color vision must pass job-required vision screening.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, stoop, or crouch, and move about the facility.
  • May be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 40 pounds.

Pay

$24.00 to $27.00 per hour.

Schedule

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are 8 hours, Monday through Friday. Overtime and weekend work are required as job duties demand.

This position is at our Parsippany and Montville, NJ office locations. Many of our contracts require proof that you are a U.S. citizen and/or that an export license has been obtained for employees who are citizens of certain countries.
