Inventory Specialist

The Inventory Control Specialist maintains records on inventory and on order, monitors reorder points, initiates stock replenishment, reconciles inventory discrepancies, and notifies management of irregularities.

Responsibilities

• Perform cycle counts of all types: semi-annual cycle counts of all locations, problem cycle counts generated by the system, NCR cycle counts reported by branches, etc.
• Knowledge of all warehouse processes: receiving, put-away, picking, staging, shipping, packaging, cycle counting, housekeeping maintenance, or other processes as required.
• Understand the warehouse computer system and all its functions to resolve inventory issues.
• Identify material, look up codes in the system, and adjust inventory correctly.
• Work with Material Sourcing on items in the NCR area and incoming freight from vendors and branches that need more information before putting into inventory.
• Train employees as required.
• Operate all tools and equipment in a safe and orderly manner; wear proper safety equipment at all times.
• Operate scanners, computers, and other equipment for the warehouse management system as instructed.
• Ensure proper care and handling of tools and equipment at all times.
• Complete all required training successfully.
• Become familiar with materials and products handled in the warehouse facilities.
• Focus on transaction accuracy and work in a neat and orderly manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Forklift certified with a valid driver’s license.
• 3 to 5 years of previous experience in warehouse work.
• 1 year of experience in at least two warehouse processes (e.g., receiving, put-away, picking, staging, shipping, packaging, cycle counting).
• Working knowledge of materials and products handled in warehouse facilities.
• Ability to work well with others to promote a team environment.
• Ability to learn to operate tools and equipment required in a warehouse environment.
• Ability to learn and follow processes in a warehouse with a warehouse management system.
• Ability to follow instructions and supervision.
• Must be available to work any shift required.
• Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned warehouse environment and meet the physical demands of warehouse work.
• Ability to wear the proper safety equipment required for warehouse work.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and SAP knowledge.
