Inventory Specialist

Functions and Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload, and move incoming supplies and materials using Government-furnished equipment (e.g., carts, pallet jacks, bins, scanners) when authorized.
  • Break down pallets and prepare materials for storage or distribution.
  • Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and other documentation.
  • Identify and report visible damage, discrepancies in quantities, or documentation inconsistencies.
  • Stage supplies for storage and distribution to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and compliant storage areas in accordance with Government standards.
  • Support accurate inventory tracking and supply flow across VASDHS locations.
  • Utilize inventory management systems and Microsoft Office tools to document and track inventory activities.
  • Follow all established safety, OSHA, and HAZMAT handling procedures.

Education and Experience

  • Required: Minimum of 2 years of experience in supply, warehouse, or inventory management.
  • Required: Proficiency and fluency in the English language (written and verbal).
  • Required: Experience with inventory management systems and general warehouse workflows.
  • Required: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Required: Ability to follow structured processes and comply with Government and PWS requirements.
  • PREFERRED: Experience supporting Federal or Government logistics operations.
  • PREFERRED: Familiarity with barcode scanning systems and warehouse automation tools.
  • PREFERRED: Experience working in healthcare or high-volume distribution environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to push up to 100 lbs. using carts or similar conveyance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment, as applicable.

Compliance Requirements

  • Must comply with all safety and HAZMAT handling requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain required Government system access and training.
  • Ability to pass background checks and meet contract-specific requirements, as applicable.

Salary

$21.56 - $24.79 per hour
