INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST.

About the role

This is a mission-essential, bargaining-unit position that supports ordnance inventory management and storage operations. The role requires travel on military and commercial aircraft to CONUS, OCONUS, and remote or isolated sites, as well as continuous use of personal protective equipment (helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes).

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, process, and monitor incoming requisitions; ensure timely completion.
• Use automated systems and regulations to verify material availability and condition; make substitutions or initiate referrals.
• Coordinate actions to meet required delivery dates and priorities.
• Respond to due-in, load schedule/plan, vessel allowances, Foreign Military Sales (FMS), renovation, rework, assembly/disassembly, and research requests; coordinate corrections to ensure accurate financial data.
• Review assets of age-sensitive material using technical publications and system reports.
• Classify material on automated records and schedule physical changes with the asset control team.
• Develop and maintain visual magazine and warehouse grids reflecting space occupied, hazard class, compatibility groups, and Net Explosives Weight (NEW).
• Research, compile, and produce reports on space utilization, storage capabilities, space availability, storage compatibility, magazine data, and trailer location/availability.
• Review and implement detailed load plans and schedules.
• Analyze inventory reconciliation results to identify discrepancies and recommend process, procedure, or system changes.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Current federal employees must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level (time-in-grade requirement).
• Retired military members appointed within 180 days of retirement are subject to 5 U.S.C. 3326.
• Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.
• Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment continuously during work shifts.

Qualifications

For the GS-09 grade level:

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service or private/public sector, providing supply support using an ordnance inventory management database system and freight scheduling.

For the GS-07 grade level:

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service or private/public sector, providing reports and schedules for inventory management operations to support the receipt and storage of materials.

Experience includes paid and unpaid work, such as volunteer activities through National Service programs.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or a combination of education and experience:

• Successful completion of a master’s or equivalent graduate degree, or
• Two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master’s degree, or
• Possession of an LL.B. or J.D. related to the position, or
• A combination of experience and graduate education that equates to one year of experience (transcript required if qualifying via education).
