About the role
The Inventory Control Supervisor ensures the successful movement of incoming materials through the facility, supports manufacturing and engineering by supplying materials in a timely manner, and assists with all shipments—MIL-Spec and otherwise. A key focus is the packaging of Main Test Stands, from initial preparation through loading onto trucks, with meticulous documentation of packaging via photographs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct the delivery of material to and from the appropriate physical locations in a timely manner.
- Control the proper storage and tracking of customer-furnished items (UUTs).
- Assist with all incoming and outgoing shipments of materials to critical suppliers.
- Control all inventory and excess material storage.
- Conduct min/max inventory of consumable items.
- Oversee all company assets and comply with the company’s calibrated instrument standards.
- Assist with MIL-SPEC packaging of shipments to government customers.
- Maintain inventory of packaging materials and ensure stockroom areas are organized and clean.
- Support the packaging and crating of equipment and materials for shipment to customers and vendors.
- Initiate and support the development of process improvements.
- Operate barcode scanners and perform data entry into the ERP system for inventory tracking.
- Stack skids or pallets in designated areas; clean up and dispose of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping.
- Manage and assist truck drivers with loading and unloading.
- Carry out pickups and deliveries using a company vehicle.
- Build, construct, and assemble industrial crates for shipping small parts and finished products.
- Assist other departments and perform other jobs to meet customer and mission objectives.
- Obtain a forklift license to move heavy parts or load/unload trucks.
- Train, coach, and evaluate inventory staff; oversee performance.
- Oversee cycle counts, physical audits, and product reconciliation.
- Track movements in the ERP system (Epicor).
- Enforce safety and workflow standards; partner with managers to resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor and analyze inventory levels and customer purchase trends to ensure availability.
- Develop, implement, and update inventory control procedures and policies to minimize losses and reduce costs.
- Accurately record and document inventory data.
- Provide guidance and leadership to inventory staff.
- Assist in the ordering and replenishment of inventory items.
- Review inventory records and transactions for accuracy.
- Track inventory levels and report on changes or trends.
- Prepare and submit reports to management.
- Supervise the receiving and stocking of inventory items.
- Ensure all inventory is properly labeled and stored.
- Monitor inventory levels to meet customer demand.
- Respond to inquiries regarding inventory availability and location.
- Maintain a safe and secure inventory area.
- Analyze inventory data and recommend improvements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent with at least 5 years of related work experience.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Computer experience, including programs and data entry.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and U.S. citizenship or green card.
- Ability to lift 50–60 lbs on a regular basis.
- Previous experience as an Inventory Supervisor or in a related position.
- Proficient knowledge of inventory management principles and practices.
- Excellent organizational, management, and communication skills.
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Access.
