Inventory Control Specialist

Job Description

Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure effective material flow through execution of system transactions, cycle counting, reconciliation, and process improvement activities. Support plant operations by ensuring material availability, accuracy, and compliance with company policies, safety standards, and ISO requirements.

Inventory Control & Accuracy

  • Execute cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliation processes to maintain accurate inventory records
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies between physical counts and system records
  • Ensure all material movements (receipts, issues, transfers, adjustments) are properly and timely transacted in the system
  • Maintain inventory accuracy in alignment with company targets and operating plans

System & Data Management

  • Utilize ERP/M2K systems to manage inventory transactions and validate material data
  • Support system improvements, upgrades, and future ERP transitions (including SAP S/4HANA) as required
  • Support maintenance of inventory-related master data (locations, units of measure, item attributes)
  • Identify and troubleshoot system-related inventory issues and escalate as needed
  • Ensure compliance with established inventory procedures and transaction discipline

Material Flow & Operations Support

  • Partner with production, scheduling, and shipping/receiving to ensure material availability and proper flow through the plant
  • Absorb and assist in resolving material shortages, delays, and stock imbalances
  • Support implementation and adherence to standard processes for handling, storing, and moving materials
  • Perform hands-on material handling activities as needed to support operations

Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving

  • Analyze root causes of inventory inaccuracies and implement corrective actions
  • Recommend and support process improvements to reduce errors, improve efficiency, and optimize inventory control
  • Support plant KPI initiatives related to inventory accuracy, inventory turns, and material availability
  • Participate in continuous improvement and company betterment activities

Compliance & Safety

  • Comply with all safety rules, regulations, and company policies
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Support internal and external audits by ensuring accurate inventory documentation and traceability
  • Follow ISO standards and established procedures related to inventory control

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience with inventory control, warehouse operations, or manufacturing preferred
  • Basic knowledge of ERP or inventory management systems (M2K, SAP or similar preferred)
  • Ability to perform detailed work with a high level of accuracy
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift certification as required)
