Inventory Control Manager

About the Role

The Inventory Control Manager (ICM) oversees all operations related to inventory control, expediting, product placement, and maximizing cubic efficiency. The ICM provides leadership and direction to maintain accurate inventory within the facility, collaborates with other departments to identify and resolve issues, and ensures adherence to proper inventory practices.

Responsibilities

• Train, coach, develop, and hold accountable up to X employees to achieve operational metrics and satisfy distribution center needs.
• Manage all inventory control operations, including facilitating customer re-shipment requests, removing shipping department roadblocks, acting as Quality Assurance for all departments, and maximizing cubic efficiency.
• Prepare the facility for new inventory by collaborating with the facilities department to adjust storage racking and eliminate dead stock.
• Maintain high inventory accuracy by complying with company policies such as Cycle Counts and Audits.
• Establish and maintain a collaborative relationship with procurement, emphasizing communication.
• Ensure quality in receiving, stocking, and shipping processes through analysis and development of operational strategies.
• Provide comprehensive training to inventory personnel on issue resolution and effective communication.
• Generate reporting to improve inventory accuracy across departments, initiate and oversee projects to address identified problems.
• Ensure proper rotation of food products, issue accountability for mistakes, and communicate with procurement if issues arise.
• Lead weekly and monthly meetings to review metrics, discuss areas of improvement, address employee relations, and provide updates on initiatives.
• Analyze opportunities for improvement in productivity, cost reduction, damage mitigation, and process efficiency.
• Ensure timely completion of employee performance reviews and provide frequent, constructive feedback.
• Interact regularly with employees to promote engagement and ensure adherence to safety regulations.
• Complete administrative duties related to employee management promptly and to the expected standard.
• Collaborate with the leadership team to meet distribution center needs and foster a team mentality.
• Create development plans for employees to generate engagement and build a leadership bench, focusing on Team Leaders.
• Maintain high integrity and honesty, embodying and modeling the company’s core values.
• Serve as a leader for the entire distribution center, holding peers, managers, and employees accountable to expectations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 12 hours per day.
• Requires effective communication using speech, vision, and hearing.
• Requires regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
• Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
• Requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 75 lbs.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in operations management.
• 2-3 years’ experience with receiving and inventory management preferred.
• Associate degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• Experience working in a distribution environment preferred.

Skills

• Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain technical and complex concepts clearly.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and address difficult situations diplomatically.
• Customer service-oriented attitude with a desire to exceed expectations.
• Ability to work off-shift as required to respond to urgent needs.

Working Environment

• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
• Occasional exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, dust, fumes, and gases.
• Moderate noise level in the work environment with average employee traffic.
• May require occasional travel to other facilities within the region.
