About the role

The Inventory Control Manager oversees the purchasing, receiving, and accounts payable processes at commissary locations. The role involves deciding purchasing levels using past and current forecasting data and ensuring timely and accurate inventory transactions through remote oversight of an administrative team. Responsibilities include End of Month (EOM) Inventory processes and completion.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage the ordering process at one or more commissary locations, including forecasting, vendor relationships, and receiving documents.
  • Support the daily management and continuous improvement of commissaries to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Coordinate warehouse transfers across teams and investigate all inventory variances, identifying actions to minimize or eliminate them.
  • Drive efforts to maintain days-on-hand and inventory shrink levels at or below KPIs.
  • Identify the need for cycle counts to correct physical vs. theoretical inventory variances and communicate this to the General Manager and Regional Inventory Control Analyst.
  • Partner with all levels of management to ensure process compliance.
  • Oversee compliance and accuracy of WIMS transactions and Accounts Payable invoicing.
  • Complete all reporting requests from Location, Regional, or Corporate Leadership.
  • Supervise, train, coach, and develop Inventory Control Specialists; may also oversee Quality Control Clerks and/or WIMS Clerks depending on the commissary’s management structure.
  • Work cross-functionally with receivers and warehouse personnel to ensure inventory SOPs are followed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Senior Operations Manager, or Regional Inventory Control Analyst.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of inventory management or procurement experience, preferably in a warehouse environment.
  • Two or more years of experience managing, developing, and coaching a team.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and collaborate with cross-functional teams at all organizational levels (internal and external).
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities from diverse levels of management in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs; SQL (Structured Query Language) preferred.
  • Ability to analyze and comprehend various reports and recommend or execute appropriate actions.
  • Results-oriented focus to ensure accurate, complete, and timely delivery of operational reports and services.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • High level of self-initiative, ability to prioritize, work independently, and manage time effectively.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with a reliable attendance record.
