About the Role
The Inventory Control I is responsible for ensuring that company inventory is properly and securely stored and recorded, from time of receipt until use or shipment.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to Security and Safety policies.
- Perform tasks in accordance with property, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform various daily housekeeping tasks; maintain work and storage areas in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Perform other administrative duties as needed or assigned to meet organizational needs.
- Communicate and coordinate material status information to designated personnel.
- Conduct inventory counts, verify item storage, location, quantity, etc.
- Ensure control and accuracy of material and records using manual and electronic inventory control systems.
- Load and unload inventory as necessary.
- Utilize hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors, or other handling equipment to move material within the storage facility.
- Perform inventory functions by pulling, packing, delivering, and staging inventory to and from the production floor and order picking.
- Ensure accurate database entry so physical counts match electronic records.
Property Intern Responsibilities
- Conduct full physical inventory of piece part material line items against inventory reports, verifying part number, description, location, lot number, quantity, inventory abbreviation, and check-off report.
- Affix identifying markers to verified items.
- Conduct full physical inventory of equipment asset items, verifying property tag number, location, and check-off report.
- Report discrepancies to Inventory Control Personnel.
- Verify clerical computations against physical counts and note any adjustments.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent; at least 6 months of related work experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment, including walking, bending, stooping, and lifting inventory items up to and exceeding 50 pounds with appropriate safety measures.
- Detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication, analytical, and follow-through skills.
- Experience with CostPoint and Cognos preferred.
- Previous experience operating a forklift preferred.
- Previous experience conducting physical inventory counts preferred.
- Must be reliable, responsible, and able to work independently.
- Commitment to work weekends and overtime as needed.
- Strong academic performance if a current student.
- Ability to pass a drug and background screening.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.
Skills
- Ability to enter data accurately into databases and perform basic mathematical computations.
- Ability to follow processes and write routine reports and correspondence.
- Understanding of corporate policies and procedures and their relation to organizational goals.
- Proficiency in operating general office equipment (fax, phone, scanner, printer, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to detect issues and exercise resourcefulness.
- Ability to multi-task with minimal supervision; high degree of self-motivation and independent work skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; trustworthy.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills, specifically using Microsoft Office Suite and Deltek CostPoint; ability to learn additional software programs.
