Systems Controller I

About the role

This is a non-union position at Enbridge, a company committed to delivering safe, reliable energy while driving financial excellence and innovation. We are seeking a Systems Controller to join our Gas Control team in Houston, Texas.

Responsibilities

• Implement daily planned pipeline activities, optimize system performance through efficient use of horsepower and pipeline facilities, and proactively communicate changes to field personnel, teammates, and gas control management.
• Cook up activities between field and gas control personnel during planned or unplanned pipeline outages, communicating with field teams and management to address any issues that arise.
• Use Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems to monitor pressures, pack levels, flow data, alarms, gas quality, and other operational data — and to operate compressor stations, regulators, meter flow and pressure set points, ensuring timely flow and pressure requirements and limiting pipelines to maximum operating pressure at all times.
• Serve as front-line response to emergency or abnormal conditions, and apprise management of situations of concern — such as sudden changes in demand or loss of compression — to support timely and cost-efficient decision-making.
• Perform all work in compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements, including those set by the Department of Transportation (DOT), Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Requirements

• Related technical diploma and minimal direct experience
• Proficient in computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills within a team environment
• Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Effective negotiation skills for interfacing with internal and external customers
