About the role

The Inventory team is responsible for tracking all inventory within our distribution centers. This includes maintaining accurate records and researching any discrepancies with the product. It is imperative to understand the layout of the warehouse to ensure the proper location of the product. Researching any damages/adjustments of product, tracking expiration dates, and alert management of any potential safety concerns that may arise. Within this department, you will ensure proper handling of damaged and/or spoiled merchandise, pulling and processing salvaged product, review and analyze inventory reports to identify trends, and work directly with various departments and local operations leadership to provide recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain SOX compliance and support third-party audits in accordance with company standards.
  • Coordinate physical inventories, cycle counts, inventory reporting, and inventory control processes.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy, investigate discrepancies, and process system inventory adjustments.
  • Manage slotting, product location verification, quality concerns, shrink, damages, returns, and salvage activities.
  • Process return-to-vendor requests, chargebacks, food bank donations, and salvage programs in accordance with company procedures.
  • Ensure proper handling, movement, storage, and disposition of UNFI products.
  • Coordinate salvage pickups and maintain all required inventory, return, and compliance documentation.
  • Maintain records retention in compliance with corporate policies and guidelines.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Operations, Inventory Control, QC, Procurement, Reclaim, and other stakeholders.
  • Review and respond to verbal and written communications.
  • Safely operate powered industrial equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Qualifications

  • Capability of being licensed in operating powered industrial equipment.
  • Understanding of Safety guidelines.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable Bakco functions and RF systems.
  • Understanding of applicable Bakco functions.
  • Understanding of all paperwork and reporting methods related to tracking inventory.
  • Have an understanding of procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes.

Skills

  • Strong communications skills; both written and oral applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; must be motivated and take initiative.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to be detail oriented and manage multiple tasks.

Physical demands

  • Some travel may be required.
  • Ability to lift between 40-60 pounds daily and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
  • Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation.
  • Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
  • Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
  • Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties.
  • Ability to operate work related equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Moving about the distribution center warehouse floor.
