About the role
This is an hourly position starting at $22.50 per hour plus a $1 shift differential. The Inventory Clerk plays a key role in accurate and timely inventory and general accounting functions.
Responsibilities
- Process daily production paperwork to track production yields.
- Maintain inventory tracking spreadsheets for internal use.
- Create and post inventory assembly entries to the general ledger to relieve inventory and build items for billing.
- Assist with the receipt of inventory items into the accounting software.
- Review payroll records for accuracy and submit weekly hourly payroll to an outside payroll company.
- Apply customer payments and reconcile cash receipts to deposit amounts before posting.
- Perform accounting duties in accordance with established company policies and procedures.
- Research, track, and resolve (or properly refer) accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies.
- Investigate and resolve production yield problems and inventory discrepancies.
- Maintain the company’s professional reputation through effective communication and coordination with personnel and management.
- Assist Accounting Department personnel as needed and keep management informed of area activities and significant problems.
- Report transactions outside established purchasing policies to the Controller.
- Maintain regular contact with other departments to obtain information and/or correct transactions.
- Ensure the work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
- Perform general accounting duties as needed and maintain confidentiality.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent certification.
- Additional bookkeeping courses preferred.
- Familiarity with accounting software and spreadsheets.
- At least two years of previous accounting/bookkeeping experience preferred.
- Two or more years of previous spreadsheet experience.
- Knowledge of Company policies regarding inventory and purchasing.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English; bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong math skills and good attention to detail.
- Well-organized with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Adaptable, dependable, and able to follow direction while working cooperatively with others.
- Professional attitude and appearance.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed instructions and handle problems involving a few variables.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Work Environment
- Sedentary office work, sitting for long hours.
- Must be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
- Frequent and regular use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents, products, or operate machinery.
- Must be able to exert 10 lbs. of force occasionally throughout the day.
- Typical office environment with no hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
- May include exposure to cold and/or hot temperatures and use of sharp tools such as knives.
