Essential Duties
- Lead all procurement activities to ensure timely, cost-effective acquisition of direct and indirect materials.
- Establish strong supplier relationships focused on quality, delivery performance, cost competitiveness, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor supplier performance through key metrics including: On-Time Delivery, Quality Performance, Cost Competitiveness.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels that support production while minimizing excess inventory and carrying costs.
- Create and manage inventory cycle counting schedule.
- Develop and improve material management processes that increase inventory accuracy, material availability, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with Production Planning to proactively identify material shortages.
- Analyze materials needed for work orders.
- Attend and take part in regular production and like meetings (i.e., scrap and variance meetings).
- Ensure prompt and correct updating of the computer systems.
- Purchase maintenance and factory supplies as needed.
- Collaborate with the proper team members to decide costs and supply needs for production (i.e., cost increases from suppliers, obtain copper and other vital production articles).
- Buy supplies that are critical for the success of business operations.
- Monitor obsolete materials.
- Keep detailed records on procurement activity, materials quantity, specifications etc.
- Maintain compliance with all Marmon IEI environmental, Health and Safety policies.
- Support and take part in Lean/5S and process improvement initiatives.
- Support activities within compliance to ISO Quality System procedures.
- Provide coverage in the absence of the Planner and or Other roles as needed.
Education And Experience
- Preferred: Associate degree in related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of production planning office experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge And Skills
- Preferred: Knowledge of applicable purchasing laws, regulations, and policies.
- Ability to read and interpret production and materials reports.
- Strong knowledge of inventory processes and cycle counts.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong organization and documentation skills and attention to detail.
- Must be able to perform basic arithmetic, statistics, and other specific mathematical applications.
- Able to meet deadlines and manage priorities.
- Able to communicate verbally, in writing and interpersonally.
- Solid knowledge in Microsoft applications and applicable production applications.
- Must be able to multi-task, follow priorities given, and have strong troubleshooting skills.
- Self-starter: ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
