Inventory Accounting Analyst
About the Role
The Inventory Accounting Analyst supports the integrity of the company’s inventory financial data by assisting with the end-to-end accounting for inventory, cost of goods sold, and margin analysis. Execute day-to-day accounting tasks for a large division of the Company, ensuring that inventory transactions are recorded accurately and timely. Apply US GAAP standards to inventory valuation and assist in ensuring compliance across global operating territories.
What You'll Do
- Support the accounting, reporting, and analysis related to inventories, gross margins, and standard costs.
- Prepare monthly journal entries for inventory movements, accruals for inventory in transit, and the capitalization of freight and tariffs.
- Absorb the monthly financial close by performing preliminary inventory valuations and identifying potential reserves for slow-moving or obsolete stock under US GAAP.
- Review gross margin data and help investigate variances between budgeted and actual margins for management review.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for inventory-related accounts across global operating territories to ensure balance sheet accuracy.
- Track and report on cost drivers that cause variances between standard and actual costs.
- Cook with the Product and Sales teams to provide data necessary for maintaining accurate standard product costs.
- Generate and distribute reports that provide visibility into cost components like product, duty, and freight.
- Support physical inventory counts and monthly cycle count programs by reviewing results and flagging variances for further investigation.
- Support the development and documentation of new SOX-compliant internal controls for the newly acquired division to ensure reporting integrity.
- Maintain documentation for inventory internal controls and gather requested information for internal and external auditors.
- Monitor listings of low-margin and slow-moving inventory to provide updates to relevant departments.
- Aid IT and the broader accounting team with user acceptance testing for ERP patches, fixes, or cost-related system issues.
What You Bring
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an Accredited University is required and 2+ years of experience are required.
- Essential application proficiency in: SAP and other systems.
- Good communication skills and someone capable of working on their own. Someone that pays a great deal of attention to detail.

ZT Systems assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package is created for all our employees. The typical base salary for this position is expected to be between $63,375 and $88,000 per year. If hired, the final base salary will be determined on an individual basis taking into consideration experience, skills, knowledge, education and/or certifications.
