About the role

The Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM) Technologist works alongside neurophysiologists and other physicians during surgical procedures to monitor the nervous system and reduce or avoid complications. Responsibilities include performing recording and monitoring in various cases, preparing patients, conducting IONM, and ensuring quality of care. Additional duties may involve supporting inpatient EEG services.

Responsibilities

  • Perform recording and monitoring in cases such as brain and brainstem procedures for tumors, orthopedic spine procedures for scoliosis, and vascular surgery for aneurysms.
  • Aid in patient preparation and follow-up to ensure quality of care.
  • Support inpatient EEG service for EEG and other evoked potentials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • ABRET CNIM qualified and certified within two years of hire.
  • BART or BLS at time of hire, with commitment to obtain BART within six months.
  • Two years of experience in surgical neurophysiology at the CNIM level.
  • Demonstrate competency in EEG, live EMG, triggered EMG for neural element stimulation, SSEP, tcMEP, T04, and AEP for all patients.
  • Competence in programming necessary related equipment (Cadwell).
  • Comfortable performing multimodal monitoring in complex spine, brain/brain stem, and vascular surgeries.

Qualifications

  • Certified in ABRET CNIM.
  • BART or BLS.
  • Two years of experience in surgical neurophysiology.
  • Demonstrate competency in relevant monitoring techniques.
  • Programming competence in related equipment.
  • Experience with multimodal monitoring in complex surgeries.

Skills

  • Ability to perform EEG, live EMG, triggered EMG, SSEP, tcMEP, T04, and AEP.
  • Programming proficiency with Cadwell equipment.
  • Experience with multimodal monitoring in complex spine, brain/brain stem, and vascular surgeries.
  • Advanced capabilities including ECoG, central sulcus localization, DBS neurophysiology, peripheral nerve evaluations, and brainstem/spinal cord stimulation/mapping.

Pay

Annual Full Pay Range: $124,132 - $154,408 (prorated if appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $59.45 - $73.95 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
