Qualifications
- Education: Master’s Degree from an Accredited College or University in Special Education, or a Related Field Required.
- Certificates & Licenses: A Valid Virginia Department of Education Postgraduate Professional license with an endorsement in General Education; Special Education; School Counseling; School Social Work or School Psychology. Endorsement in Administration and Supervision and/or BCBA Certification are preferred.
- Experience: At least 8 years of experience as a Teacher, Counselor, Social Worker, Psychologist, Administrator or Coordinator.

- Extensive knowledge and skills in behavioral strategies and evidence based interventions for children and adolescents.
- Extensive knowledge and skills in academic strategies and evidence based interventions for children and adolescents.
- Extensive knowledge and skills in application of evidence-based strategies to enhance social skill development and emotion regulation within the school setting.
Essential Functions
- Works directly with students to provide preventative strategies and interventions related to emotional and behavioral challenges and/or academic deficits;
- Provides ongoing support to school teams to resolve student behavioral challenges;
- Supports staff in the development and collection of data for MTSS plans;
- Supports staff in interpreting the data to make recommendations on identified areas of need;
- Assists and supports building and division staff and parents in the development, implementation and monitoring of MTSS functional behavior assessments (FBA) and student support plans (SSP);
- Effectively communicates and maintains collaborative relationships with all stakeholders involved on a school-based team;
- Maintains knowledge of applicable laws and regulations at the federal, state and local level; and
- Collects and reviews student specific CEIS data for state and division reporting of outcomes.
Compensation
- Step Placement and Salary for this position is determined by The ACPS Teachers and Other Licensed Staff Salary Scale.
- Exempt position status - This position is classified as exempt, meaning it is not eligible for overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
