Interventional Radiology Technologist - VIR Lab - PRN

About the role

The Interventional Radiology Technologist PRN assists physicians in performing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose, monitor, and treat various conditions. This role is ideal for those with experience in Interventional Radiology or Invasive Cardiology.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes advanced skill set to assist providers in performing procedures such as cardiac catheterization, structural heart interventions, electrophysiology, angiography, device implantation, biopsies, thrombectomy, embolization, and pain management.
• Uses a variety of specialized radiologic equipment and techniques to perform a wide range of diagnostic, interventional, and/or invasive procedures in accordance with established guidelines.
• Maintains a sterile field and adheres to safety protocols during procedures.
• Prepares patients for procedures and provides comfort, acts as a scrub tech during procedures, responds to patient inquiries, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams.
• Conducts post-testing quality reviews, transfers images to the electronic health system, documents findings, and supports quality assurance activities.
• Assists with on-call clinical coverage, supports academic partnerships, and mentors new or less experienced team members.

Requirements

• Graduate of a post-secondary educational program in a health science (cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, or paramedic/EMT).
• Completion of a JRCERT accredited military educational program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.
• At least 3 years of experience in interventional radiography or invasive cardiology.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• One of the following certifications required at hire: ARRT(RT)(VI), ARRT(RT)(CI), RCES issued by CCI, or RCIS issued by CCI.

• Demonstrates advanced knowledge and skill in medical imaging, patient positioning, and medical ethics.
• Applies advanced knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology related to specialty imaging procedures.
• Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Displays knowledge of and ability to apply HIPAA guidelines and standards.
• Shows ability to prioritize and complete work assignments, remain calm under stress, and work effectively as part of a team.
• Consistently maintains accurate records and works accurately with patient information.
