Interventional Radiology Technician

About the role

Performs a variety of complex radiology examinations, imaging procedures, and interventional diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in interventional radiology, cardiac cath, or electrophysiology labs. Assists in diagnosis and treatment of diseases, maintaining safety and quality standards. Provides on-call coverage as needed.

Responsibilities

• Executes radiologic procedures using appropriate techniques and safety measures under physician guidance.
• Prepares sterile setups, instruments, catheters, guidewires, and contrast materials.
• Supports physicians with catheterization, ballooning, coil placement, and treatments.
• Develops and implements procedure plans following hospital protocols.
• Completes documentation and maintains equipment and work areas in a safe, organized manner.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and meets assigned goals.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Radiology Technology Program.
• Preferred: 1+ year as a radiology technologist; 6 months in IR/Cath/EP labs.
• Registered by ARRT in Radiography (R); BLS certification required within 14 days of hire; state licensure as needed.
• Preferred: ARRT Vascular Interventional (VI) certification.

• Strong understanding of radiologic principles, proper technique, and positioning.
• Ability to follow instructions, plan, and organize work effectively.
