About the Role

Under the direction of the Technical Director of IR/INR, the technologist performs a wide variety of Diagnostic and Interventional procedures in accordance with physician orders. This role requires a high level of technical knowledge, skill, and the ability to work closely with a team of physicians, nurses, and other technical staff. The technologist participates in research projects, inventory management, and staff training, and is involved in the evaluation and instruction of new techniques and equipment. Daily interaction with patients is required, maintaining a safe, respectful, and comfortable environment.

We are building a new Interventional Radiology Department consisting of IR, U/S, and CT procedures, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment in a collaborative teaching and team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians and follows departmental guidelines and protocols in the performance of all diagnostic and neurointerventional radiologic procedures.
• Adheres to infection control, sterile technique, and contrast media protocols.
• Operates imaging and interventional equipment (U/S, CT 3-D, Digital subtraction, Angiojet) and evaluates image quality.
• Manages supply inventory, including expiration checks and stocking.
• Performs monthly checks for supply expiration, patient database, eyewash, and equipment competencies.
• Cooperates and assists with shift coverage and on-call responsibilities.
• Follows departmental guidelines for scheduling and documenting exams (imaging, PACS) and maintains accurate records.
• Maintains a friendly, respectful manner with patients and addresses their physical, psychological, and social needs.
• Explains procedures clearly and concisely and maintains proper hand hygiene.
• Assists with cross-training and orientation of other employees and students.
• May be required to assist with tasks that facilitate the operational flow of the unit.
• Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and federal regulations regarding radiation safety.
• Must be able to wear a lead apron, stand for long periods, multitask, and work quickly and efficiently.

Requirements

• Vocational or Technical training in Radiologic Technology required; Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology preferred.
• State Licensure as a MA Radiologic Technologist-Radiography required.
• Registration as a RT (R) (ARRT) required.
• Certificate in Basic Life Support required.
• 1-3 years of specifically related work experience required.
• Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of Special Procedure, Interventional Radiology, or Cardiac Cath Lab experience.
• Credentialing with ARRT as a Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) or Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV) technologist.

Physical Requirements

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. The job is physical, requiring standing and/or moving around for the majority of the shift.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $49.00 - $72.81 per hour. Actual compensation is determined based on factors such as seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, and other applicable factors permissible by law. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other pay practices as applicable.
