About the role

The Interventional Technologist Level 1 position at MGH IR is a fast-paced, dynamic role that requires a combination of technical skill and interpersonal abilities. This position offers a competitive salary range of $43 - $47.85 hourly, with a $20K sign-on bonus to welcome new graduates and experienced technicians alike.

Responsibilities

  • Operates complex diagnostic and interventional radiographic equipment during IR procedures.
  • Ensures proper patient positioning and immobilization, selects imaging factors, and initiates fluoroscopy.
  • Assists physicians during procedures, including setting up for power injections and advanced imaging techniques.
  • Calibrates and verifies equipment operation, troubleshoots issues, and reports malfunctions to service engineers.
  • Performs post-processing of images, including reformatting and advanced software applications.
  • Maintains inventory tracking and ensures availability of previous imaging for procedures.
  • Supports procedures by preparing patients for procedures, maintaining aseptic conditions, and managing lab specimens.
  • Supports drop-off and pick-up of sterile and soiled supplies, and assists with RFID tagging and stocking of medical/surgical supplies.
  • Teaches and instructs personnel and technology students within the department, including precepting new staff.
  • Participates in research programs, quality assurance, and educational programs to stay updated on imaging techniques and equipment.
  • Maintains professional relationships and communicates effectively across all role groups, including representing IR well to staff outside the department.

Qualifications

  • Certificate/Diploma in Medical Imaging required.
  • ARRT(R) certification required within 180 days of hire.
  • Massachusetts Rad Tech license required.
  • Advanced Modality Licensure (VI/CV) preferred.

Skills

Knowledge of all various ancillary equipment used in interventional procedures, ability to operate complex diagnostic and interventional radiographic equipment, and proficiency in post-processing and image management are essential skills for this role.

Pay

$43 - $47.85 hourly with a $20K sign-on bonus for new graduates and experienced technicians.

Schedule

Flexible shifts available: 8-hour shifts or 10-hour shifts with or without weekend rotations. On-call schedules are also available for evening, weekend, and holiday coverage.

Remote/Onsite

This position is located at 55 Fruit Street and is currently an Onsite role.

Additional Job Details

As a teaching hospital, the Interventional Technologist Level 1 can oversee and instruct various personnel and technology students within the department, including precepting new staff and working closely with the IR Managers and supervisors while following the department Competency-Based Training program.
