About the Role
Hanover Middle School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Intervention Specialist to join our student support team. This role focuses on providing intensive, evidence-based literacy instruction and targeted interventions to fifth- and sixth-grade students struggling with reading comprehension, fluency, and writing skills, with limited consultation and support provided for seventh and eighth grade as needed.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver Tier 2 and Tier 3 ELA and reading interventions primarily for 5th and 6th-grade students using research-backed methods.
- Administer diagnostic assessments, monitor student progress regularly, and analyze data to adjust intervention strategies.
- Offer targeted ELA support and consultation for 7th and 8th-grade staff and students to ensure alignment across grade levels.
- Partner with general education ELA teachers, special education staff, and administrators to design MTSS frameworks and ensure classroom alignment.
- Maintain ongoing communication with families regarding student progress, intervention goals, and home support strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
- Valid PA Teaching Certificate in Reading/Literacy, Middle Level ELA, or Elementary PK-4/K-6.
- Proven experience teaching reading strategies and implementing MTSS frameworks at the middle school level preferred.
- Strong proficiency in data-driven instruction and diagnostic literacy tools.
