An hourly salary range of $18.56–$22.04 is anticipated for this position.
Responsibilities
- Assist clinic staff nurse, doctors, clinicians, and clerical staff with interpreting/translating registration information, health histories, present medical problems, personal data, and instructions/health education information for non-English speaking clients.
- Check the call line for messages from Haitian clients to gather information about their needs, schedule appointments, and assist with questions or concerns.
- Schedule appointments for clients with necessary providers and return visits for non-English speaking clients.
- Make home visits with medical and/or social work staff to translate for Haitian Creole-speaking clients when home visit intervention is needed.
- Provide written translation of forms, pamphlets, or other written materials as needed.
- Assist in preparedness and emergency response activities during public health threats (e.g., disease outbreaks, natural disasters).
- Perform miscellaneous clerical duties as needed on a daily basis.
- Carry out Performance Management (PM) roles, including identifying and communicating performance improvement opportunities and adjusting performance to meet PM goals.
- Implement strategies to achieve Health Equity, such as attending trainings, identifying and addressing barriers to health, serving on the Health Equity Team or subcommittees, and engaging in efforts to eliminate health disparities.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED certificate.
- Fluency in Haitian Creole; selected candidate will complete a Language Proficiency Test at the time of hire.
- Valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle.
- Knowledge of medical terminology in both English and Haitian Creole (test required within 6 months of hire; must pass by the end of the 9-month probationary period).
- Knowledge and acceptance of diverse cultures.
- Ability to work at any of the three locations and on mobile units as needed.
- Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening test prior to employment.
