This position is expected to start January 2027 and continue through Spring term (ending approximately May 2027) or into Summer 2027 if available. A minimum commitment of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, is required. This internship is for students actively enrolled in an academic program; recent graduates should apply for full-time positions. International students using CPT must confirm their ability to work 40 hours per week before applying.

Responsibilities

  • Distill system-level requirements into quantifiable constraints and actionable discussions for hardware and software teams
  • Host cross-functional systems design discussions with electrical, software, manufacturing, mechanical design, and service teams
  • Translate systems design discussions into design documents, including system block diagrams, functional requirements, and performance requirements
  • Define system hardware and software interfaces
  • Develop early system prototypes to de-risk new technologies
  • Execute initial system bring-up and integration testing at the vehicle level to validate system design assumptions

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong electrical and embedded systems fundamentals
  • Hands-on technical experience debugging complex subsystems involving network microprocessors and software-controlled electrical or electromechanical devices
  • Ability to understand and highlight nth-order impacts of electrical, software, or process changes
  • Experience debugging hardware and software interactions during design, launch, and deployment
  • Ability to read and interpret C/C++ or similar embedded systems languages
  • Experience in MATLAB, Python, or equivalent tools for modeling and analysis

Pay

Expected compensation is $20.00 - $55.00/hour + benefits. Pay may vary based on market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may include other elements dependent on the position offered.
