International Summer Music Institute Counselor

About the role

The International Summer Music Institute (ISMI) is seeking counselors to supervise students (including minors) in dorms and as they move between events and classes. Counselors may also provide instructional or administrative support to camp instructors.

Responsibilities

• Check-in and checkout day campers.
• Oversee classes and assist instructors.
• Lead students to meals and rehearsals.
• Participate in performances.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in music or closely related field, recommendation by UNT faculty member.
• Understanding of standard violin and string chamber music repertoire, with a respect to teach students at a variety of levels.
• Experience advising and mentoring students within an academic setting.
• Professional orchestral performance experience.
• University teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Required License/Registration/Certifications: None specified.

Skills

• Communicating with others to exchange information.
• Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
• Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
• Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.

Pay

$25.00 an hour

Schedule

Hours will be consistent with posted daily hours for ISMI camp from July 5-12, 2026.
