International Student Advisor

About the Role

The International Student Advisor position is a key part of Global Carolina's International Student and Scholar Support Office. This role serves as the primary advisor to F-1 and J-1 international students, focusing on maintaining immigration compliance. Responsibilities include advising on topics such as international travel, full-time enrollment, work authorization, and program extensions. The advisor will also facilitate employment workshops and liaise with campus partners to ensure international student needs are met.

Responsibilities

• Advise F-1 and J-1 international students on maintaining immigration compliance.
• Provide guidance on international travel, full-time enrollment, work authorization, and program extensions.
• Facilitate employment authorization workshops.
• Liaise with campus partners to address international student needs.

Requirements

• Proficiency in MS Excel and database management software.
• Strong word processing skills.
• Ability to coordinate and prioritize competing tasks.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with the general public and work as a team member.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a culturally diverse clientele.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

• Familiarity with Banner, Ellucian software, and SEVIS federal databases.
• Strong communication skills (listening, speaking, writing).
• Problem-solving abilities to work with diverse faculty/staff and international student populations, particularly non-native English speakers.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
