International Operations Supervisor

About the role

The International Operations Supervisor will supervise the import/export and transshipment of materials, equipment, products, packages, and documents, including fulfillment of customs requirements. This role involves performance management and professional development of the International department, training and developing international operations agents, and assigning work and resources. The supervisor will manage relationships with international service providers and partners globally, acting as the liaison for international vendors to manage shipment bookings and ensure timely transfers from logistics providers' warehouses to final destinations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the import process, customs documentation, shipping, and receiving of foreign shipments to ensure correct arrival time.
• Ensure compliance with home and foreign country government laws and customs regulations.
• Hire, train, and develop the team to meet company expectations and manage underperformance as necessary.
• Conduct weekly 1:1s to coach and motivate the team through performance KPIs, metrics, individual goals, and development opportunities via career-pathing discussions.
• Monitor staff schedules, overtime, and absences.
• Provide guidance in import/export assignments, related interactions, and negotiations.
• Interpret contract terms/conditions for export/import implications and provide direction in all phases of international logistics.
• Support the development of policies and procedures to ensure on-schedule delivery of shipments and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Execute all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), KPIs, trainings, and other assignments.
• Responsible for the operation of the office when the manager is absent.
• Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (Required).
• Some College/Associate's Degree (Preferred).
• 3+ years of experience in International Freight Forwarding operations (Required).
• 1+ years of experience in people management (Preferred).
• Working knowledge of international air, ocean, and customs brokerage processes.
• Working knowledge of Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and computer skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle conflicts with positive resolution.
• Ability to work flexible hours in a high-volume, high-pressure, fast-paced work environment.

Qualifications

• International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) certification (Required).
• ATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) certification (Required).
• CargoWise Certification (Required).
• Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) certification (Required).

Pay

The wage range for this position is $72,840.00–$109,260.00 and may vary based on geography as well as relative knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience.
