Pay

$65,139.36 to $87,560.72 per year

Schedule

Full-time (40 hours per week)

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced levels of personal management, operate departmental equipment, and demonstrate verbal and written communication and hand laboring skills within the Highway Department.
• Operate small equipment, such as roadside mower, sidewalk plow, compressors, etc.
• Operate equipment such as twelve (12) ton roller, grader, sweeper, front-end loader with two (2) yard bucket, and backhoe.
• Act as lead person on work crews.
• Prepare routine records, logs, and reports.
• Provide verbal and written daily planning and scheduling of work crews and work assignments in coordination with the General Foreman or, in his absence, the Highway Superintendent.
• Respond to routine inquiries, requests, and complaints from residents, contractors, etc.
• Assist outside contractors engaged in construction and repair activities.
• Assist other Town departments with repairs or other projects as required.
• Operate and coordinate snow emergency response.
• Conduct and train others in the safe operation of power tools and heavy equipment.
• Maintain work area in a clean, safe, and operable condition and adhere to applicable safety and health rules and regulations.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be a positive, team player and work in a collaborative environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Truck Driver CDL Class B license required.
• Hoisting Engineer License class 1 required.
• Working knowledge of construction plans and profiles.
• Must be willing to learn and advance to a higher grade.
