About the role

MasTec Civil, a MasTec Company, is looking for a Roadway Foreman to lead our crews, crush daily production targets, and champion an elite safety culture in Tampa, Florida. If you have 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience and know how to bring heavy highway projects in on time, under budget, and up to the highest quality standards, we want you at the helm.

The Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of construction workers on a construction site. They must ensure the job is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the specified quality standards. The Foreman has a crucial role in ensuring the safety of the crew and themselves, while meeting the daily production targets set by the company.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating daily tasks according to priorities and plans, making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery, and personnel.
  • Sustaining daily safety meetings with all crew members at the beginning of each different job activity.
  • Clarifying and explaining, as needed, to all crew members the construction means and methods to be utilized during daily job activities.
  • Delegating individual responsibilities and projects to crew members and contractors
  • Providing adequate resources and staffing to meet project schedules, laws, regulations, best practices, and safety needs.
  • Emphasizing the safe use of tools, machinery, and equipment while providing training on safety gear, helmets, and procedures
  • Resolving conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably
  • Regularly reporting project status to supervisors.
  • Ensuring a clean and organized work area and improving and maintaining good housekeeping practices.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively with crew members.
  • Ability to think logically about the work at hand and compare site conditions with project designs.
  • Ability to read blueprints and other project-related documents.
  • Ability to use email, smartphone, tablet, or computer to manage company information and documents.
  • Must be able to maintain acceptable attendance standards per the employee handbook.
  • Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
  • 1-year construction related experience (roads, highways, bridges, etc.)
  • Completion of High School or secondary education is preferred.
