About the Role

Under the direction of the Designated Institutional Official (DIO), the Program Director is responsible for the general administration, curriculum planning, recruitment, and teaching and supervision of the Internal Medicine (IM) Residency Program. The Program Director establishes the strategic direction of the Program and is accountable for its standards, quality, and reputation. The role supports integration of the IM Program with physician practices and hospital clinical services to enhance value, quality, and promote an optimal environment for professional practice and medical education. The Program Director will also provide some inpatient and outpatient services related to hospitalist and/or the resident continuity clinic.

Responsibilities

• Clinical teaching and supervision of residents
• Core program clinical teaching
• General administration of the IM Residency Program
• Participation in GME committees and meetings
• Lecturing and teaching at GME conferences
• Recruiting and interviewing for the IM Program
• Engagement in GME research and scholarly activity
• Resident evaluation and monitoring
• Program evaluation and improvement

Requirements

• Three to five years of Internal Medicine post-residency clinical experience
• Core faculty experience in an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency program
• A minimum of 3 years of GME teaching/administrative experience as Program Director or Associate Program Director
• Excellent communication skills
• Active involvement in research and scholarship (e.g., publications, presentations)
• Mentorship experience of residents and students in scholarship and development of scholarship programs

Preferred Qualifications

• Inpatient and administrative experience
