About the role
The Internal Communications Manager will serve as a central point of contact for internal communications, partnering with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to plan, write, and deliver communications that keep ZEOs aligned, informed, and inspired. The role supports the narrative of where Zuora is going and how we get there together, working across channels such as email, Slack, our employee newsletter, intranet, and live events.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute internal communications programs
- Partner with the broader Communications, Marketing, ZEO Success, and Strategic Operations teams to plan and execute internal communications programs aligned to company strategy, OKRs, people programs, and more.
- Own day-to-day management of the internal communications calendar for your programs, ensuring the right messages reach the right audiences at the right time and avoiding channel conflicts or duplication.
- Support coordination across regions and functions so global and local communications feel consistent, timely, and relevant.
- Write and edit clear, compelling content
- Draft, edit, and polish internal content across channels, including A–Z newsletter blurbs, executive and functional emails, Slack posts, intranet articles, company enablement, talking points, FAQs, and event scripts.
- Translate complex strategies and initiatives into simple, human, and actionable messages tailored for different audiences (all ZEOs, people leaders, specific functions/regions).
- Maintain consistency with Zuora’s internal tone of voice: clear, candid, approachable, and aligned to our values.
- Support executive and leadership communications
- Partner closely with senior leaders (including the CEO, COFO, CPTO, and functional SVPs) and their teams to support internal communications around strategy, business performance, and major announcements.
- Contribute to the development of All Hands and ZKO segments by drafting talking points, story arcs, and supporting materials that help leaders show progress, explain “the why,” and drive clear calls to action.
- Provide constructive feedback and light coaching on content and structure so leaders can communicate with clarity and confidence.
- Help run high-impact internal events
- Support end-to-end communications for enterprise events such as Global All Hands, ZKO, APAC AMAs, Summer of AI, and targeted enablement sessions – including invites, run-of-show docs, presenter scripts, Q&A flows, enablement tools and resources, and recap communications.
- Partner with Operations, IT, and regional stakeholders on logistics and audience experience (e.g., Zoom configuration, recordings, translations/captions, follow-up resources).
- Capture and synthesize feedback from ZEOs and leaders to recommend improvements for future events and communications.
- Build scalable processes and leverage tools
- Use and continuously improve templates, intake forms, and playbooks that make it easier for partners to request support and contribute high-quality inputs (e.g., Internal Comms guide, request details, AI prompt templates).
- Help maintain and refine AI-enabled workflows (for newsletters, MBR recaps, and other recurring updates) that reduce production time and improve consistency.
- Track basic engagement metrics (opens, attendance, Q&A/submissions, survey responses) and share insights and recommendations with the Senior Director and stakeholders.
- Champion culture, inclusion, and global representation
- Ensure internal communications reflect and reinforce Zuora’s culture and values, highlighting examples of ZEOs and teams bringing our strategy to life.
- Intentionally elevate diverse voices and perspectives in company-wide forums by partnering with regional leaders and ERGs to feature stories, quotes, and segments that represent our global ZEO base.
- Help ensure key moments and messages land thoughtfully across regions, time zones, and cultural contexts.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience in internal/employee communications, corporate communications, or a closely related field, ideally in high-growth tech or SaaS environments (or equivalent work experience with a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree as specified).
- A quick learner with a keen interest in rapidly understanding the business, its strategies, and its complexities.
- Strong writing and editing skills with a portfolio that demonstrates your ability to craft clear, concise, and engaging content across multiple formats and audiences.
- Experience supporting C-suite and senior leaders on internal communications (e.g., emails, town halls, leadership meetings), with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Comfort operating in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, and global environment, coordinating with multiple teams and stakeholders to get work over the finish line.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once—from recurring newsletters to one-off announcements and live events—while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
- Familiarity with modern internal communication tools and channels (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack, intranet/CMS, Zoom/Vidyard, basic analytics dashboards; exposure to AI-assisted writing tools is a plus).
- A genuine interest in culture, employee experience, and business strategy, and helping people understand not just what is happening, but why it matters and what they should do next.
