About the Role
The Internal Communications Specialist will play a key role in delivering engaging, culturally sensitive communications across the WE Soda US team. Working within a small, cross-functional communications team, this role supports the development and execution of internal communications strategies that foster a shared sense of purpose and direction across all employees and locations.
Responsibilities
- Strategy & Employee Engagement
- Support the development of culturally sensitive and unifying internal communications strategies for WE Soda US.
- Advise on communications approaches that deepen engagement across professional and operational employees in Wyoming, with a strong understanding of field employees' needs.
- Liaise with internal departments and management to gather updates and announcements, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
- Spotlight new employees and tailor communications across US sites to support these processes.
- Content Creation & Storytelling
- Create and edit engaging content, including announcements, newsletters, and presentations, that reflects the company's voice and values.
- Apply strong storytelling skills to bring company updates, milestones, and people stories to life in a compelling and accessible way.
- Collaborate with site contacts to gather operational and people-related updates for global and local communications.
- Support management in delivering clear, empathetic, and culturally sensitive messages to a diverse employee base.
- Social Media & Digital Communications
- Co-manage US social media channels, creating content that drives both internal and external engagement, including branding for recruitment and community advertisements.
- Monitor and respond to social media activity in alignment with company policy.
- Develop and manage internal communication channels (e.g., intranet, apps, newsletters, video) to deliver consistent and engaging content.
- Demonstrate strong digital literacy, including familiarity with intranet platforms and social media management tools.
- Use design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe suite or equivalent) to produce visually engaging communication materials.
- Media, Events & Sponsorship
- Support the leadership team with media and press relations activities, ensuring alignment with company messaging and brand guidelines, in partnership with the Governmental Affairs department.
- Coordinate and deliver communications events with leadership, including town halls and other employee engagement sessions.
- Manage event and sponsorship communications, ensuring all relevant stakeholders are briefed and engaged.
- Lead the planning and communication of employee events, including Service Award Banquets and Holiday parties.
- Video Production
- Work with relevant agencies to create video content for internal and external use, including management messages, operational highlights, and event coverage.
Requirements
- Experience & Education
- 5–10+ years' experience in a communications role, delivering content across a range of channels.
- Specific internal or corporate communications experience strongly preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in languages, journalism, or communications preferred.
- A background in the mining, industrials, or energy/resources sectors is beneficial.
- Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English with a strong storytelling ability.
- Proficient in using design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent).
- Digitally literate, with hands-on experience in social media management, intranet platforms, and digital communication tools.
- Articulate, persuasive, and confident in engaging with senior stakeholders.
- Sharp eye for detail and a commitment to producing accurate, polished written material.
- Strategic thinker with experience in long-term planning and execution of communication and branding strategies.
- Culturally aware and sensitive, with the ability to build relationships across senior and junior team members in multiple locations.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
