Internal Auditor Credit and Market Risk Associate
About the role
The Internal Auditor Credit and Market Risk Associate acts as the functional Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assessing the Second Line of Defense (2LoD) oversight of credit and market risks within Nomura's Wholesale Division businesses.
Areas of responsibility
- Participate in all phases of credit risk audits, assisting with the design, creation of tests, documentation of workpapers, drafting of issues, and presentation of findings to senior audit management.
- Maintain a current understanding of changes to Nomura’s credit risk profile, organization, and regulatory environment within your assigned area and close partnership with key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Credit Risk Audit team to document in detail the Credit Risk coverage across key dimensions of business lines, material legal entities and regulations, and assist in developing a 3-yr audit cycle in line with Internal Audit methodology.
- Work with the global data analytics and AI COE to develop and implement custom data analytics and automated testing for specific audit reviews to identify control weaknesses while also contributing to the design and maintenance of sustainable continuous monitoring tests for ongoing auditing.
Qualifications and knowledge required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Credit Risk Management in a major Investment Bank. Experience or interaction with Market Risk Management is highly desirable. Alternatively, Credit and Market Risk audit experience at a Big 4 or similar large-scale professional services firm is also preferred.
- Knowledge of Market Risk management processes, controls and limits.
- Bachelor’s degree in quantitative sciences, Business, Finance, or Risk Management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with teams in the US, EMEA, and Asia.
- Confident manner and well-developed communication (both verbal and written), influencing, interpersonal and project management skills.
- Knowledge of credit risk processes, including credit risk underwriting and sanctioning, counterparty credit risk management, wholesale credit risk governance, relevant regulatory requirements etc. a plus
- Understanding of regulatory/supervisory guidance impacting credit risk such CFTC’s Risk Management Program (17 CFR 23.600), EBA Capital Requirements Directive IV (CRD-IV), Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR) Rulebook, and BCBS Counterparty Credit Risk guidelines a plus

Pay
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $105K and $130K/year. Details of the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave).
