Intern Transportation Engineering Designer
Job Summary
T.Y. Lin is seeking a Transportation/Traffic Engineering Intern for their Chicago office during the Summer of 2026. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse infrastructure projects focused on multimodal transportation plans supporting communities and transformational real estate developments.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Conduct site visits, field observations to gather data and provide research
Perform traffic, pedestrian, parking and safety analyses
Engage with the public and stakeholders to gather input and provide updates
Create and develop maps, reports, presentations, and graphics
Contribute to problem-solving efforts to address project-related issues
Draft and finalize detailed reports summarizing findings and recommendations

Education And Experience
Working towards a Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Urban Design, or Public Policy Undergraduate Degree or related Graduate Program
Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Familiarity with traffic planning/analysis software (HCS, Synchro/Sim Traffic) and drafting software (AutoCAD, MicroStation)
